Cardiac MRI shows promise as a diagnostic tool for coronary heart disease
Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an appropriate non-invasive procedure for functional diagnostics in patients who, as a result of basic diagnostics, are suspected of having chronic coronary heart disease (CHD) or progression of known CHD: The diagnostic accuracy of cardiac MRI is at least comparable to that of SPECT (single photon emission computed tomography) in the detection of CHD, but does not expose patients to radiation.
